One of the quickest ways to get your family tree started is with a family tree worksheet. These handy aids to helping you start your family tree are widely available, inexpensive, and can help you understand how family trees are created and organized.
When I originally prepared the worksheets several years ago, I admit I didn’t always know what to put on them. Sometimes I just didn’t do a worksheet for a particular assignment. Other areas were more obvious to me about what to include. And then there were times when I just copied a bit of text from the teaching and simply pasted that text onto a worksheet. I added some blank lines for students to work out how the subject mattered to them. Simple but effective.
After filling out these two worksheets you will have effectively tracked your spending for the month. Using the monthly expense record worksheet, you will now have the information you need to create a working budget for next month.
Quality vs Quantity Some free worksheets are not good quality – the pictures are fuzzy, backgrounds print grey or speckled – and children tend to notice these things. If you are using the worksheets to educate your child, you may want to choose good quality worksheets that encourage your child to produce good quality work. After all, it’s a little difficult to ask your child to color within the lines and work neatly when the worksheet they are filling in hasn’t done the same.
In another article, I will be explaining how to fix practiced mistakes; but I assure you that it is not quick and it is not easy. And it certainly does not involve another worksheet!
No matter what materials you choose, it is most important that you supervise your child constantly so that mistakes get caught rather than practiced. I learned this particular lesson the hard way. When my daughter was young, she did something that needed ”attention.” I no longer remember what it was that she did, but I told her to write the sentence ”I will not disobey my parents again” 50 times. I should have known better, but I didn’t check on her at the beginning and then I got busy. So, sometime later, she brought me 50 sentences of ”I will not disobey my parents agen.” She had just practiced misspelling ”again” as ”agen” — 50 times! I’m not certain that we ever really got that fixed.
